Summer Reading

Summer Reading 2021(June 1- August 5)

Join us for Summer Reading through READSquared, an easy-to-use online application for logging reading progress at http://hopkins.readsquared.com/ or by downloading the app. Detailed directions on using READsquared can be found here.

***You don’t have to use READsquared, but it is highly encouraged, as your progress will be updated instantly and you won’t have to worry about keeping a paper log. If you choose not to use the online application, please be sure to track your progress using the paper log provided at sign up, and make sure to turn the log into the library by Friday, August 5th in order to be eligible for prizes!

Young Readers (ages 0-6)

We have so many fun events planned for our young readers (ages 0-6). Click here to see the full listing of events. Please note that some of these events require registration. This will be noted in the event description, and you can call the library @ 269-793-7516 to register.

For kiddos ages 0-6, the goal throughout Summer Reading is to read or listen to someone reading for 20 minutes per day for at least three days a week, for a grand total of 600 minutes throughout the program. You can absolutely do more than that though. At the conclusion of Summer Reading, if you have met this goal, you will win a prize! 

Young Readers (ages 7-13)

For patrons ages 7-12, the goal throughout Summer Reading is to read or listen to someone reading for 20 minutes per day for at least three days a week, for a total of 600 minutes throughout the program. You can absolutely do more than that though. At the conclusion of Summer Reading, if you have met this goal, you will win a prize! 

Teen/Young Adult Readers (ages 13-17)

For teens and young adults, the goal throughout Summer Reading is to read 20 minutes per day for at least four days a week, for a total of 800 minutes throughout the Summer Reading program. You can absolutely do more than that though. At the conclusion of Summer Reading, if you have met this goal, you will win a prize!

Adult Readers

For adults, the goal throughout Summer Reading is to read as many pages as possible. At the conclusion of Summer Reading, the top three adult readers (those who have read the most pages) will win a prize!
