Hopkins District Library Board Meeting Minutes

December 15, 2012

Present: Natalie Bazan, Karon Dunifin, Lynn Francis, Mimi Gabriel, Anita Kerber, David Klink, Chris Navis

Absent: Suzanne Antvelink, Barbara Wrobleski

1.      Meeting was called to order at 9:30 AM.

2.      Roll Call.

3.      Approval of Agenda

Approved.

4.      Approval of Minutes

Approved.

5.      Treasurer’s Report

Reviewed report. 

Report approved as written.

6.      Correspondence

None.

7.      Public Comment

None.

8.      Director’s Report

·         Programs

o   Sticks & Strings group meeting 3rd Monday of the month.

o   Book club meeting regularly.

o   Coups for Troops (coupon clippers) meeting regularly.

o   Jewelry making (free to district, $5 to others).

o   Santa, cookie swap and Winter Bazaar Dec. 15th.

o   You’ve been Jingled (winter secret project).

o   Flowers in February – February 27th.

·         Publicity

o   Up to 81 “likes” on Facebook.

o   Globe stories.

o   School newsletter.

o   Posters around town.

o   Allegan News articles.

·         Meetings, workshops, etc.

o   Advisory Council Meeting (LLC).

o   Township meetings.

·         Building Issues

o   Broken door.

o   Furnaces & A/C units.

·         Budget Issues

o   None.

·         Library Closings

o   None.

·         Volunteers

o   22 people have signed up for the Friends of the Library group.

o   Donations of books still arriving.

o   Table at Winter Bazaar.

·         Lakeland, State, other library news

o   Natalie is secretary of the Advisory Committee and co-chair of the PPS Committee for Lakeland.

o   Natalie is co-chair of the Special Events Committee for the 2013 MLA annual conference.

·         Patron comments and suggestions

o   Book suggestions.

o   Looking for program ideas for next year.

·         Other

o   Rober C. Renart grant.

o   Signed up with Better World Books to sell our old books that don’t sell here.

o   Send audio books to the Heritage for the Blind.

o   Start campaign for donations for summer reading program.

o   New newsletter is complete.

o   2013 summer secret project progressing.

o   Writing up letter for teachers and planning suggestion box.

o   Finishing federal forms and RFP for USF federal funds for next year.

Audit - vote.

10.  New Business

·         Need two people for Hopkins Improvement Committee.

12.  Meeting was adjourned at 9:45 AM.

Next meeting scheduled for Tuesday, January 8th at 7:00 PM.
